May 1st, 2006

(Before reading the below, read my post on Nation Building here)

Well I am on the train again, this time headed back to San Luis.

As many Americans know, tomorrow, Monday, May 1st, (too many commas?) is a National (unofficial) Day Without an Immigrant/Latino.

Personally and more sarcastically for those reading this that may be of the dumb witted sort, I would like to see every body taking that day off, shot. I guess I wouldn’t make such a good President, now would I.

But in all honesty, the Latinos protesting for their right to amnesty are downright stupid. First take a look at where a majority of these folk come from – Mexico. Mexico recently passed a law legalizing street drugs across their country. Now I understand where this was suppose to help the less fortunate not able to go to a clinic and get the prescription, but tell me how does it help every drug cartel in existence running Mexico now-a-days?

In all the year’s history has seen of this Earth never once has a populace gone to a neighboring country, and protested for their freedoms. One might be obliged to ask why Mexican Citizens now placed in America (i.e. illegal immigrants) don’t protest in their own country. It is simple human nature that when one sees not fit his government then that person should seek to protest for a change, not go to the neighboring country and protest there for a life they were not given in their place of birth.

So, to answer that question of why Latinos staging Monday’s events don’t protest in Mexico for a better life there, the answer is simply they would be shot on site. Yes in Mexico it’s called the law, and you don’t protest the law, because the law involves the cartels. So I wasn’t completely wrong when I suggested you shoot them in the first place :P

In any case, the entire North American continent is screwed up, and somebody is doing some serious screwing with this one. For example I don’t even know what to call those people who will participate in Monday’s events. Do I call them Latinos? Or perhaps Mexicans? How about illegal immigrants? When you can’t call a peoples by one single name (like Americans) then you know something, or somebody, is seriously screwing with your mind.

Furthermore to make a more striking point of things, America has turned into a refugee camp for literally millions of Mexicans and citizens from dozens of other nations. A refugee, by definition, is a person displaced from his or her populace of living by adverse conditions, and then further removed to a location of a different country all together. Now tell me what is a Mexican citizen who comes to America seeking a life that he or she could not achieve in Mexico; how about a displaced citizen?

Well, by calling them refugees sure doesn’t change anything, we still a few million dozen or so human beings without a country.

And for all those immigrants wanting to take Monday off, go right ahead, I may be able to finally say “thank god,” and mean it.

You said:"And for all those immigrants wanting to take Monday off, go right ahead, I may be able to finally say “thank god,” and mean it."

You meant ILLEGAL immigrants right?

My husband is here LEGALLY from England, his partner at work is here LEGALLY from the Ukrain, and they have a helper here LEGALLY from Ireland. They are at work today.

All three have very strong feelings about not only this boycott, but anything that even so much as hints at amnesty for these law breakers.

OMG I LOVE YOU....ok not really that much but YES I DO MEAN ILLEGAL. But I AM SO CONFUSED. What am I suppose to call these (illegal) immigrants when every news outlet displays it as a "Day Without Immigrants," and not ONE SINGEL news paper displays HEADLINES of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANS in the title. I am like for f**ks sake where are all the IMMIGRANTS then???!!?!?!

That's me when I am confused and angered...

BTW I hope you read this as I don't want you to leave this website with the wrong impression...
