I'm Pissed
Well usually, and more specifically with our great Government. I must ask, do we elect leaders so that they go above and beyond the realm of "expected things-to-do" to help the American Citizen? Or do we elect leaders that just go to Washington D.C. and do just about nothing for the American Citizen except yell at each other, of course.
Notice how I use the word American Citizen. It is a fundamental fact that as a politician in Washington D.C. you are a de-facto leader of the known free world, whatever that means. So naturally you will excise your powers as Senator, Representative, Secretary, or Executive Staff toward making the world a better place and establishing the New World Order. However where does the American Citizen play a role in the great Government?
Sure we elect them, so it's largely our fault for getting neglected by those we elect...but the politicians we elect are largely election made. Meaning that they mold themselves around getting elected. They model their views, ideas, bills, and outbursts about getting elected for another term of "much of the same." The era of the politician that stands in front of the crowd and remarks provocative phrases that can bring tears to ones eyes or have the crowd break out in rapturous applause is over, for now.
You see it is largely how someone speaks that will tell how they are in the light of the Nation, the World, and history books. The greatest orators were the greatest leaders of this nation. For example Ronald Reagan, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr. just to name a few. All of them were respected, and you can see the correlation between the two, a master speaker is one who is in touch with the people and he is in touch with the people because when he (or she if that ever comes down the road) speaks to the people - the people want to hear what that person has to say.
We don't got any of those any more. When the President speaks, you're guaranteed to be wondering what the hell he is talking about and why the stage he is speaking at looks like a class act Hollywood set. When some idiot Representative gets up to speak on the House floor you are guaranteed to hear that person stating categorically how crappy the other Representative, or the other Representatives ideas are. When a Senator speaks you really just wonder who he is speaking too? Me? Because I sure don't care about half what he is talking about. When Secretaries speak you wonder what basement department they popped out from to put in their two cents.
What we need is people who will say,
"I will not give my views on Abortion because it is a topic that effects a small minority of Americans, furthermore the topic has already been reviewed by the federal government and been given to the states as a power held to them. Now please get out of my face and don't ask me any more questions"
You know I would like to hear someone say,
Politician: "Yes I speak with lobbyist all the time, I love going to dinner with them, and going to all their nice beach resorts, it's so much fun."
Reporter: "Ahh you don't think that's morally wrong?"
Politician: "I could care less if lobbyist spent $20 or $1,000 on me. It is their money to waste."
Oh and about gay marriage,
"If gays want to get married let them, but they sure as hell aren't welcome into my home, near my kids, or on my television. I am not about to start telling people if they can get married or not, God will judge all those who get married, as I believe you are married with God as your witness."
Lastly, open your mind. The world is large, larger then you could ever wrap your head around it.
